Across several Indian cities, Zepto delivery workers have gone on strike, raising serious concerns about fair wages, job security, and basic dignity in the gig economy. The protest reflects a growing unrest among gig workers, who often work long hours without benefits, stable income, or employee protections.
The striking workers demand better pay structures, medical support, and an end to arbitrary penalties. Zepto, a leading player in India’s quick-commerce sector, has yet to release a comprehensive response, while labor rights activists argue that this is just the beginning of a larger movement.
The strike has also disrupted deliveries in several areas, highlighting the essential role gig workers play in urban logistics—and the urgent need to address their grievances.
